Being Black means you are not allowed to be a George Smith, an autodidact. Black cultures tend to be conservative in ways that discourage, invalidate, even violently suppress any thinking that is outside of formal modes of education.
Why I have learned not to believe everything I think and feel is real. What sucks is the insane number of people that attack me for saying I think this way. Every day somebody will go off on me because they hear something I say about myself as a criticism of them. Worse, when I point out what I’m saying is about me, not them it becomes time to criticize me in a way that had I actually done it would have caused an instant melt down. And people wonder why I spend most of my time alone.

What drives me crazy are the number of Black people who buy into and promote this stereotype. If you try saying anything remotely like pointing this out, it is not uncommon for you to be verbally or even physically threatened. So it’s ok to be White and get away with doing this but not cool to be Black and try telling other Black people about this. Only White comedians are allowed to do that.
